We are happy to announce that the Beijing Forum (2017), an international forum co-sponsored by Peking University, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education and the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies, will be held from 3rd to 5th, November, 2017 in Beijing.
Founded in 2004 and located in a city steeped in tradition, the Beijing Forum aims to showcase the highest academic achievements from across the world and facilitate worldwide research in the humanities and social sciences. Over the past 13 years, more than 4,000 professors, scholars, politicians and public intellectuals have attended the Beijing Forum and expressed their ideas, including several Nobel Prize Laureates in Economics, leaders of international institutions, and heads of states.
The Student Panel of the Beijing Forum was initiated with the aim of elevating and broadening the international vision of young people, and facilitates the cooperation and exchanges between university students worldwide. In collaboration with the Yenching Academy of Peking University, the Student Panel of the Beijing Forum 2017 will focus on the topic of To Prepare for a Globalized Future: Reflection and Discovery.
This year’s Student Panel of the Beijing Forum aims to gather scholars and practitioners in the field of education to exchange opinions and experiences about cultivating Youth leaders and talents in an age of globalization. It will create an environment for Chinese and foreign students to discuss future issues in education, other challenges faced by an ever-increasing globalizing world under the guidance of experts and scholars.
These issues are more important now than ever, with the deepening of globalization changing the nature of international security, environmental, world economic, and cultural issues across the world. The Student Panel of this year has four parts. The first part concerns the sharing of experiences between educators in the field of fostering young talents. The second and third part invites young people tor eflect on the history of globalization, as well as present their views on the future of globalization. The fourth part concerns efforts at cultivating social leadership of future youth leaders. The discussion of major global issues among students will be based on the understanding of the conception of leadership.
