Retirement of Dean Yuan Ming and Appointment of Professor Dong Qiang

As we are about to bid farewell to 2021, the Yenching Academy recently completed a smooth leadership transition. Professor Yuan Ming, who served as the Dean of Academy since February 2016, stepped down from this position due to age. The baton has been passed to Professor Dong Qiang, a world-renowned scholar of comparative literature and translation between Chinese and French and Knight of the Legion d’honneur of France. Since 2013 he has served as Chair of the Department of French at Peking University. 

Peking University and Yenching Academy express deep gratitude to Professor Yuan Ming for her invaluable guidance and contributions during her tenure as Dean of the Yenching Academy since 2016. We are very fortunate to have Professor Dong as the new Dean, who will work closely with the top team and lead the Academy through this challenging time.
