Say goodbye to 2021, where we kept together beyond mountain and sea;
Say hello to 2022, where we embrace a brighter future as we stay close.
Language Partner on the Cloud
On the evening of December 10, the YCA Graduate Student Union (GSU), PKU School of Chinese as a Second Language, and PKU School of International Studies co-sponsored the online event “Language Partner on the Cloud”. Students from more than 20 countries studying at several PKU schools and departments joined the online event. Like birds flying high in wielded wings of language and culture, they talked, laughed, and enjoyed their shared stories and experiences.
Countdown to 2022 Together
On New Year’s Eve, our YCA Scholars held an online New Year celebration organized by the GSU and our residential Advisors (RAs). The students on the campus enjoyed the light show and countdown to 2022 at the Boya Pagoda. Scholars at the Weiming Lake and their homes shared what they did to welcome the New Year by video link, extending good wishes to one another.
Video Show
On January 2, Yenching Scholars enjoyed an online video show organized by the GSU. They shared their daily activities, how they celebrated the New Year, their artistic talents, and several fascinating sceneries around their cities via self-made videos. The online event was a feast for cross-cultural communication. We anticipate the day when our Scholars come back to the campus and meet in person.
See what our Scholars said about the event:
Marie-Claude Andrea Hykpo (France): “The video is a sort of collage of photos and video clips I took at Yenching Academy. Study and life grew difficult due to the pandemic. But I’m happy that I can reflect on the year and celebrate it.”
Qiu Zheqian (China): “I invited my audience to a campus tour, with my vlog. It’s a pity that many of my fellow Scholars had to stay at home due to the pandemic. I hope that they could enjoy the campus life at Peking University through this video.”
Hui Xin Wong (Malaysia): “I’ve been impressed by my fellow students’ efforts and dedication to the GSU. Thank you very much. Because of you, I am growing into a better person and contributing more to the YCA family. I’m happy to be one of the GSU. I’m confident of meeting new challenges and opportunities next year because of your encouragement.”
Zhao Qing (China): “The GSU of the Seventh Cohort organized diverse online events in the past semester, despite the pandemic. The GSU will keep on and better serve the students. We’ll start anew in 2022. Let’s embrace a shared, brighter future.”
